"People want to do business with people. Make it local and make it real to them and they appreciate that."
John Hill
AutoTrends Owner John Hill started working around cars as a 12-year-old boy, pumping gas on Grove Street not far from his childhood home in Greensboro’s Glenwood neighborhood, a few doors down from his grandparents who owned Gate City Produce in Hamburger Square.
One of his earliest repair jobs was a critical emergency engine rebuild for his mom’s brand new lawnmower, which blew up as John cut his neighbor’s lawn. He figured it out. Momma never knew.
In college, John worked on cars in the campus parking lot, and once triggered an evacuation as he worked on a carburetor in his dorm room. He attended Smith High School, North Carolina A&T, and UNCG. He’s raced flat track motorcycles and attended the American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona, Florida. He’s the father of two daughters.
